Bored with your mundane existence? Searching for adventure but backside glued to the sofa? Fret no more and check out the most anticipated Korean dramas for March 2012! Whether you like melodramas, comedy, fashion, historical dramas or K-pop, there’s something for everyone!
The SBS drama’s release on March 14, 2012 is a much anticipated one, since the main male actor is none other than JYJ’s Micky Yoochun. Han Ji Min has the honor of playing the leading lady.
Synopsis… After the death of Crown Prince Lee Kak’s wife, the Crown Prince transports 300 years into the future and arrives in 21st century Seoul, South Korea with his retainers. In the present day Seoul, the Crown Prince meets Joo Se-Na, who has an uncanny resemblance to his deceased Princess.

Prediction… The drama is expected to do quite well, especially with the vast support from the JYJ fan base. Park Yoochun has already proven to be a talented actor in Miss Ripley & Sungkyunkwan Scandal. Nonetheless, the recent JYJ scandal involving fan abuse, might impact ratings.
This romantic drama is set to begin March 26 on KBS2 and has a total of 24 episodes. It stars Asia’s prince, Jang Geun Suk and SNSD’s Yoona.
Synopsis… Love Rain narrates a love story of two generations, the analog and the digital era. In 1970s, Seo In Ha and Kim Yoon Hee met and fell in love but they weren’t meant to be. In the present 21st century, Seo In Ha’s son and Kim Yoon Hee’s daughter meet and fall in love. Will they become a couple?

Prediction… Yoona’s previous drama production was Cinderella Man, which she starred opposite veteran actor, Kwon Sang-woo. I bought the whole set and watched the first 5 episodes thrice, because I kept falling asleep. Yoona lacks presence and if KSW couldn’t compensate for her lack of talent then JGS probably won’t be able to as well. JGS’s charm lay in his puppy dog eyes and lovely smile… but so does Yoona’s. Too much sweet stuff and you’ll get cavities.
Premiere date for Fashion King is on March 19, 2012, and the cast includes Yoo Ah In, Shin Se Kyung, SNSD’s Yuri and Lee Jae Hoon.
Synopsis… Fashion King tells the story of young aspiring designers in Dongdaemun Market as they dream of success, and the relationships, love, and challenges they face along the way. Kang Young Gul (Yoo Ah In) has never had any goals or dreams for a bright future until he meets Lee Ga Young (Shin Se Kyung). Together they work towards their dreams.
Prediction… Ooh Fashion~ I like. Yoo Ah In ~ like even more. This is Yoo’s first role as the male lead, so please be kind! I’m glad that they gave Yuri a supporting role and not a main one. It gives viewers room to focus elsewhere if she can’t act but I look forward to her performance!
The King’s 2 Hearts
Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi are paired for this romantic comedy. To be aired March 14.
Synopsis… This drama is set in modern day where South Korea is governed by a constitutional monarchy. Lee Jae Ha is a handsome and materialistic crown prince who doesn’t care for politics. He falls for Kim Hyang Ah, a North Korean Special Forces agent.
Prediction… Needless to say, the drama will be receiving lots of love because of the cast. But will King 2 Hearts surpass the other strong contenders for the top spot? Lee Seung Gi is good at comedy and Ha Ji Won with drama. The biggest challenge this interesting combination will face is AGE. Ha is older than Lee by nine years and women tend appear older.
On the bright side, Ha has finally grown out her hair!
Absolute Boyfriend (Taiwanese/Korean)
This drama adaptation of the popular manga series Zettai Kareshi will star Fahrenheit’s Jiro Wang, Xie Kun Da and Korean actress, Koo Hye Sun.
Synopsis… Riiko is a girl unlucky in love. One day a strange-looking salesman gives her a business card for a website that sells “love figures”. On the spur of the moment and without really understanding the implications, Riiko orders one for a 3-day free trial. She forgets to return him before the deadline, and must then work out some way to return the one million debt she now owes without anyone discovering about this embarrassing secret.
Prediction… A Korean-Taiwanese collaboration project based on Japanese manga and starring idol group members… sounds like Extravagant Challenge/Skip Beat. Oh no.
